PROJECT DETAILS

Umarpada is a Taluka in Surat District of Gujarat State located in the Foothill of Satapuda range. It is 88 KM towards East from District headquarters Surat. 253 KM from State capital Gandhinagar towards North. Umarpada Taluka is bounded by Dediyapada Taluka towards North, Valia Taluka towards west, Mandvi Taluka towards west, Sagbara Taluka towards East. Umarpada consist of 107 Villages and 33 Panchayats. It is in the 241 m elevation(altitude). The taluka is dominant by hill tribes mainly Vasava and Choudhary. In Umarpada, The project will work directly with smallholder households from the 12 selected villages (with landholding size of up to 2 acres) and 3100 HHs. Project will indirectly impact 15500 population (considering 5 members in each household).
Indirectly the project will reach other key stakeholders such as PRI members, existing farmers collectives, relevant govt. departments at block, district level and non-Agriculture/Landless/Seasonal migrant HHs within the identified project villages.
Through different interventions, the project will facilitate adoption of sustainable agricultural packages based on integrated pest and nutrient management (IPNM) with efficient water and energy conservation practices, which will support in transferring rainfed agriculture to irrigated agriculture based on community’s capacity, prevailing agri/natural resources, and climate influence.
JOB SUMMARY
Agriculture Engineer will be primarily responsible for coordinating, planning, implementing and completing all project-related activities in Umarpada location within the stipulated time in complete coordinate with the other project team members. S/he will work closely with the Program manager, Field Associate, Procurement , Admin and Finance to create an enabling environment for developing a more secure and resilient livelihood for the smallholders. This position will ensure smooth implementation of all project-related planning, design, and execution of efficient water management and energy conservation practices. In addition, the position also requires support on community mobilization for integrated pest and nutrition management, training on crop water budgeting and strengthening existing village institutions. S/he will also provide management and technical guidance to the design and quality implementation of project activities, development of required systems, processes and procedures for project implementation.
