Social Alpha is a multistage innovation curation and venture development platform for science and technology startups that aim to address the most critical social, economic, and environmental challenges. Social Alpha architecture includes product innovation labs, venture incubators, grand challenges, accelerator programmes, capital pools, and market access mechanisms. It also provides early-stage equity capital and non-dilutive grants for pilots, validations, market access, and scale-up programmes. Since its inception in 2016, Social Alpha has supported over 200 startups, including 60+ seed investments. Foundation for Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship (FISE) is a section 8, not-for-profit company and hosts the Social Alpha architecture. All the initiatives of FISE operate under the umbrella brand Social Alpha. FISE raises financial resources to support its programmes from philanthropic, government, and corporate partnerships.
Social Alpha operates well-equipped innovation labs where entrepreneurs can build, iterate and test their products and transform them into market-ready solutions. Social Alpha lab infrastructure is integrated with our start-up incubation, accelerator and capital investment programmes. We are looking for brilliant hands-on engineers interested in contributing to the emerging start-up ecosystem and willing to work with young, ambitious founders and their technical teams. Social Alpha operates across three strategic impact units: Livelihoods & Prosperity, Climate & Sustainability, and Health & Wellness.
Job Description
● Strategize, implement, and maintain program initiatives that adhere to organizational objectives
● Planning, budgeting, executing, monitoring, governance, and resource optimization
● Analyse, evaluate, and overcome program risks, and produce program reports for management and stakeholders
● Identify, develop, and manage key partnerships with the program partners, government bodies,industry partners, and network partners.
● Coordinating task/ activities and the interdependencies
● Sourcing, researching and validating, and prioritizing problem statements/challenges along the energy value chain under Climate & Sustainability and developing a thesis for social alpha intervention strategy
● Actively scout for impact-creating innovators and entrepreneurs to build a pipeline for incubation and investment at Social Alpha in accordance with Social Alpha energy transition thesis
● Evaluation, assessment, and due diligence of start-ups in accordance with Social Alpha’s incubation and investment criteria for incubation and investment respectively
● Work with portfolio companies on their business model, GTM strategy, and cashflows and support them in areas of assessed needs
● Provide thought leadership and innovative ideas across the program
Essential Qualifications:
Essential Skills and Competencies
● Ability to screen/identify and impactful technologies and map them to problem statements
● Demonstrate program and project management skills
● Understanding of business models, cashflows
● Leadership and management skills, and ability to work in fast paced, complex and challenging situations
● Experience of working with diverse set of stakeholders in the private and public sectors, including government, investors, industry, academia, and research labs
● Spoken and written proficiency in English (required, proficiency in regional languages especially Hindi desirable)
● Excellent writing and communication skills
● Excellent team player, with ability to work in collaborative and consultative manner
